The Director of the Lincoln Chinese Music Ensemble, David Chen and the JF International Music Academy hosted the Chinese New Year Concert at First Baptist Church in Lincoln. Bio. Of Xiao Chun
Pipaist Xiao Chun joined the Shaanxi Traditional Opera Institute in 1983. She has been a professional Pipa performer and educator for more than 30 years. She is also dedicated to the study of local traditional Chinese Opera research in Shaanxi. During the past decade, the orchestra has been given enormous tours around China. Ms. Xiao’s team worked together to unearth the “Qinqiang” historical repertoire and created many excellent opera works including: Story of Xijing, which won the 14th Wenhua Award, the 12th Chinese Theater Festival Outstanding Drama Award, the 12th Spiritual Civilization Construction “Five One Project” Outstanding Works Award, the Outstanding award in the 6th Northwest Five Provinces “Qinqiang” Art Festival, and the 6th Shaanxi Province Art Festival Excellent Drama Award; The historical Qinqiang Opera Tradition repertoire Li XIII, as an excellent repertoire, was invited to perform in the 15th Chinese Theatre Festival and won the Outstanding Drama Award in the 7th Shaanxi Provincial Arts Festival. Orchestra. Ms. Xiao worked with composer Zhao Jiping and director Zhang Yimou, she participated in the music recording part for the local traditional opera session in the opening ceremony of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Ms. Xiao Chun published the teaching article “A discussion of typical Fingering techniques in Pipa Performance” in 2014 and won the second prize of the Third Shaanxi National Instrumental Music Competition the following year.
